The community of Lions worldwide are most kindly requested to send contributions to our Club towards the special fund created to help Tsunami victims. Any further information can be sought from our President or Secretary.We will be more than willing to submit our detailed plans including fotos to any organization or a Lions Club willing to help our actvity.These could be sent by e-mail.
Besides we are pursuing a very succesful "Help a Student" project to help very poor students by providing through a scholarship scheme mainly funded by our friends abroad. This costs US $ 60 per year per student to give each student Rs 500 per month for a year. They are very carefully selected by the respective schools with due authentication from the school authorites. The benefactors will be provided with details of each student with their photographs.Prospective donors are kindly requested to contact our President or Secretary. Since the Tsunami struck Sri Lanka on Dec 26 2004, our activities are now more emphatically focussed to the rehabilitation of the people affected by the catastrophe.We have started a fund to which already many benefactors are contributing.Our main aim is to identify the areas to be supported like to get the school children back to school by providing them with the basic items to go to school. We will also identify some groups of people to be rehabilitated. The donors will be informed about the impending activities and full transparency will be maintained on the disbursements of funds.
Funds are generally a constraint. Any support in this reagrd from Lions Clubs overseas in either kind or funds most welcome. Thank You
